At Water2Energy, we’re proud to share real-world results from our latest tidal turbine at the sea locks in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
After successfully operating our previous turbine design, we’ve now taken a major step forward with:
- A blade design optimized for local conditions
- An innovative automatic pitch control system
The results?
20% higher efficiency compared to our earlier model, from 50 kW tot 60 kW at water speed of 2,5 m/s – directly translating into more clean energy generated from tidal currents. These are not just ideas on paper – they are innovations delivering measurable performance improvements in a real, demanding marine environment.
Excited for what’s next as we continue pushing the boundaries of sustainable tidal energy. These innovations were developed as part of the Offshore For Sure project, supported by Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland. It’s a great example of how cross-border cooperation and innovation can drive real progress in renewable energy.
